Over due Pictures of WIPs and new "hobby"

Greetings all, finally got my phone to work and upload some very over-due pictures. With no further ado...

My poor little screwed up Acron Needle Book. I started this last year and ran into major issues, as you can see. It was even more wonkier than this and then I ruined it with too much spray glue..yes, yes, I know...

 So this is the acorn cap. Stitched in "knit stitch" and tres adorable.

Outside and In. I have sewed it shut, leaving the ribbon closure out, purely by accident, so am thinking about a snap closure. And I am making another scissor pocket but I put it on so you can see what might look like. I might fiddle with it somemore...I figure I can't ruin it, can I???

Above is my latest knit creation, a cowl. I should have started learning with this but of course, I chose to learn with something more advanced.

To the right is my first knit "lace" pattern. Was this awful to stitch but I did it.

Below is a crochet mini-shawl...the yellow is just  a space holder until I can find my hank of the brown which is somewhere ...

This is a nother knitted shawl or wrap. You can see where my tension changed in the middle. This is what happens when I knit too long.

I am also spinning a bit every day. Below is pic of my yarn. I am still learning how to draft and spin and which hand does what.  Not sure what to do with this...my teacher says to roll it up and keep it on a display as a fond remembrance of my first yarn.

 You might recall that I started work on Elegant Pumpkins a while back...maybe earlier this year, I don't recall, but I have fished it out for more work this year. Below is pic from magazine and my current progress....have a long way to go!!

 A few Mill Hill kits  started last Christmas and to be finished before this one...well, that is my hope! I made a mistake on the snow man so I put this down but now must find a way of working around the error or frogging...decisions, decisions...

Below is progress on my tea towl. Probably won't work on finishing this until next year. I am in Autumn and Christmas mode right now.

And below is a Shephard's Bush sampler. I stopped because I was changing the font on it and then I got distracted with something else...but this is on my to do list...again, probably next year. I added buttons to the hill because the threads didn't come labeled and the greens were very similar that I mixed them up and you can't see the flowers on the hill too good. I also unleashed the lamb and gave the figure a curve on the back.  The figure is holding a posey which is done in French knots. I also did something with the hair, gave her a bun and a neck and thinned out her ankles..whew! Much nicer, in my opinion.

I started this on a whim a few weeks ago and I regret it...I hate AIDA! Will keep my eye out for a suitable piece of linen or evenweave. Its not white Aida, but a very pale aqua blue.

Well, that's it for the pictures for now. I should have a finish on "En Juin" by Grille de Maryse, very soon...yep, any minute now...

Hope everyone is enjoying the seasonal changes which may mean more cozy dark nights for plenty of stitching... Depending on which hemisphere you live in that is.

SFS 2015-A UPdate

Greetings all,

I have been diligently working on my WIPs and UFOs, all from stash! woo hoo!

So far for this year:

Jan spent $0
Feb spent $19.95 on a table runner.

That should leave me $25 from Jan and $4 from Feb, for a total of $30. Despite this, I really do aim to spend only the allotted amount of $25 if I do decide to purchase something.

Here is pic of my second finish from this year. I started this in 2013 but just got around to finishing it. Am not counting it towards my completed stitches as I can't remember if this was from stash originally.Still a finish!

Below are pics of WIPs. All of the stitching is done and now I have to put it together. This came from Stash, as its something I started last year.

I decided last year to work on some of my prefinished items. Below is a tea towel that I hope to have completed soon. It's been a quick enough stitch so we shall see when I actually finish it. This is also from stash and am using substitutions for the threads (DMC).

 

I hope to have these two finished before I start on anything else, and so far, so good. No bad joojoo to keep me from finishing these. yay! 

For those of you suffering the cold effects from this winter, all I can say is hang on. Stay sharp and don't let this cold numb your minds or spirits. I remember winters like this when I was living in NY and it takes all of your energy to stay focused.

WIP, future and crochet

Hello, managed to figure out what account I used to set this blog up with. The internet should be easier, somehow, yes?

Pics below are of my current WIP, a design out of the Jan 2010 issued of Cross Stitch and Needlework magazine. I started this in 2013 but should finish over the next few works. Sorry, can't get the stupid pic to upload right-side up.

I substituted with stuff I had in Stash but purchased the fabric especially for this from Silkweaver, its called Molino but not sure if that is the name of the fabric count or the name of color. Its a 36 count.

 These next picks of my new start, whenever I finish the Christmas one and a needle book that I am making. I just loved the colors on this sampler. Haven't decided yet what fabric to put it on. I substituted with some lighter colors as I thought the sampler was too dark and dreary.

Scarf I finished a few months along. I love this yarn. Its cotton but its a blend, so very light and a breeze to work with.  I added the flower on the loop to make it prettier. 

            

Well that's it folks. I have a new plan for pictures. I will bring the items to work, take pics there and upload. I have neither the time nor the dependable connection to do so from home. Hope this is a good plan. = )

Work in progress Update

Hello stitching friends, here is a short update with a pic of my progress to date on Major Tree by AAN. So far, so good. I do have a counting error towards the bottom of the tree, can't find it, but I know its there. This means continuing to work up and then right and then down, so I can accommodate one less row towards the bottom. I'm an expert in accommodating errors, you see!

Well, its March and I hope to finish this by the end of the month. It would be cool indeed to finish a project every month or so! I will be starting that lovely little pin cushion on the cover of JCS magazine. I have the supplies except for the matching fabric for the bottom...soon, soon.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well and for those of you still in the thrall of winter, hang in there, Spring will be here soon.

Another stitchy update and SFS2014

Hello folks, well, it seems that Jack Frost decided to take a vacation in the "South". Snow in SC accompanied with sleet, and frozen roads, power outages. Quite a mess! Hope everyone being impacted stays nice and warm and safe.

Nice pics of the beading...sort of.

Major Tree by Alessandra Adelaide. Very colorful orange tree with round decorations and birds. This is stitching up quite quickly but I haven't stitched on it in a few days. I am really enjoying this stitch. Below is pic of what it will look like.

The Major Tree is my project for Stitch From Stash 2014 for the month of February. I had kitted this up last year. I have most of the DMC colors and quite a bit of fabric. I've put this on a 28 count white evenweave. The pattern calls for 25 count but I've never even seen that count of fabric. For February I spent nothing on stash ...so far so good. I spent nothing in January, as well. I am doing really good!

I almost put this on 22 count Aida but I didn't want to fuss with that tiny of a count...but the 28 count makes this a pretty big project...hard to frame by myself.

And below is are pics of my progress on the Mill Hill scissor pocket. I like working with beads but can't do it at night which is when I mostly stitch. Hope to finish it this coming weekend. This also came from my Stash. At this rate, I won't have any stash left come Christmas! Yay!

Stitching update and SFS2014 for February

Hello fellow stitchers, I have completed Sunflower Fariy using Vickie Clayton's HDF. Am really surprised it turned out as well as it did. I was stitching this for my SFS2014 January Challenge. Pic below: I would have more pics but I somehow managed to delete 250 pics from my husbands phone while trying to make room for more pics of my stitching...and yes, I am in the dog house. Praying and hoping that a friend of mine that works in IT can recover some of the files.

The I also substituted with beads that I had on hand which worked out perfectly. I added yellow beads around the hem because the pattern only called for the orange ones but it seemed off balance. I didn't have the Kreinik I need either but I think the colors I used on her wings worked out perfectly. Wish I could show you more but like I said, I lost everything and just don't have the heart to try for another pic. (Spent the whole night crying last night due to this.)

Above is my project from my Stitch from Stash Challenge. Its a Scissor Pocket from Mill Hill. Easy enough to stitch but it's adorned with a beaded fringe and the necklace part is also all beaded and suspect that this will take uninterrupted to time to finish. Let's see how this works. 

SFS 2014 Month of February:

Mill Hill Plum Opal Sampler Scissor pocke. I have had this kit for years, maybe like 6 years!  (if I finish this quickly, I will work on Adelaide Alessandra's Major Tree - more later if and when I actually start it. =)

Stitchy news...at last!

Hello friends,

I have finally decided to use a phone to take a few pics of the summer's finishes and a few other things. I have never finished these many projects in a few months and must admit that the other stitchers on my Yahoo groups keep me going. Well, without further ado, I give you my projects!

 The above is Permin's Moonlit Boats. I started this a few years ago but didn't really work on it in earnest till a few months ago...and voila. Love it.

 The above is Rabbit in the Berry Patch....I may have up-loaded this one before, I forget now. This was an easy stitch and I just enjoyed it so very much. It's by Cedar Hill Designs. I used Charles Craft Sea Mist in 14 ct Aida. The chart called for R&R Reproductions See Fog.

 You've seen this one before, tried for a better pic with little improvement. Its As the Crow Flies by The Prairie Schooler. This one was weird cause sometimes I liked the simple lines and blocks of colors and other times I thought "Oi vey...when will I finish this all ready?!!"

 The above is Quaker Halloween by Jardin Prive. I have substituted everything. Am using WDW in Grits and Onyx, DMC 208 for purple and 4124 added for a spot of color. Time will tell, but I think the orange is too bright. This one is moving right along after a bit of initial frogging.

 The above is a freebie from DMC - don't think it's still available in their Club. You can't tell but this is on a lovely muted yellow, called Pumpkin by R&R Reproductions. Color is similar to the inside of a pale pumpkin.

Long Overdue update with pics!

Hi all, finally, I am able to update as I have misplaced my camera but was able to borrow one for this update. Below is a pic of a UFO that I had started a few years ago. I am working on UFOs on Tuesdays and this is really, really working for me. I had only laid about 7 stitches when I decided that I did not like working on the linen. Well, I managed to overcome my dislike and was able to put a good dent into it.  This piece is mostly beaded and it's very difficult to place the needle when the holes are covered by beads, but I am persevering! and let's not discuss that crazy loop fringe edging...Mama mia!

 Below is a pic of the needle keep that I am making for the TGOS Group challenge. I will be adding my initials to the back and finishing into a little scissors fob. I have several scissors (one for almost each project in my rotation) so this will come in handy. I am not sure that I like the satin hearts. I've never made one before and believe that my tension is too loose. HINT: when making satin anything, make sure you've got sufficient thread for the entire thing as starting a new piece of thread will wreck the tension and hence, the look. I used a lovely piece of pink fabric from Polstitches...I just love their dyeing results.

 And finally, below is one of my planned starts for 2012, another scissor fob from the Shepherd's Bush. The design is called "Sweet Stitches" - an apt name, wouldn't you agree? I substituted the called-for rice stitches with eyelets, just to break it up a little bit. I like it a lot!

 I am thoroughly enjoying the making of these smalls. It will be very hard for me to get back to my samplers and other large projects!
